Superintendent Dan Chaplik is a board member for the Snohomish County Early Learning Coalition. Work is being done to improve what is otherwise a daycare/early learning desert in our area. These small group conversations are part of a community effort led by the Early Learning Leadership Council of Snohomish County. We want to hear directly from families and guardians about their challenges and experiences so that future funding and policy solutions reflect what our community truly needs.
Details
- You will join a 60-minute conversation with a small group of 3-4 participants.
- Focus groups will be held both in person and online.
- A translator will be available in your preferred language, if needed.
- Participants will receive a thank-you $50 gift card for their time.

The Sultan School District Board of Directors will convene Thursday, March 27th, 2025, at 5 pm for a board retreat learning session on the district budget at the Sky Valley Transportation Cooperative Facility at 32900 Cascade View Drive, Sultan, Washington 98294. ATTN: SSD 7TH GRADE HIGHLY CAPABLE STUDENTS!
The Cooke Young Scholars Program application is open! This five-year, pre-college scholarship for high-achieving 7th graders with financial need provides funding for academic and extracurricular activities, personalized educational advising, and the opportunity to join a community of motivated peers.
To be eligible, applicants must:
• Currently be in 7th grade and/or entering 8th grade in the fall of 2025.
• Have earned all or mostly As in core academic subjects since beginning of 6th grade.
• Currently attend middle school in the U.S. and plan to attend high school in the U.S.
• Demonstrate unmet financial need with a family adjusted gross income of $95,000 or less.

Attention SHS SENIORS! The deadline to apply for the Sultan Education Foundation (SEF) scholarship is coming up very quickly and they will not be extending the deadline. It’s all online now - seniors, check your school email! You can learn more at the SHS counseling office. SEF also supports scholarships for people doing other types of continuing education so doesn’t have to be just college. ☺


REMINDER: The Sultan School District Board of Directors will gather today, March 6th, 2025, at Sultan Middle School for a dinner with the final Superintendent candidate at 5 pm in the front conference room. The public forum will be from 6:15-7 pm in the commons, then they will move to the library for an executive session to interview the final candidate for 1 hour, then after the executive session, at 8:30 pm, they will go into public session to do a vote by roll call on the selection of the new Superintendent. The Sultan School District Board of Directors will convene March 4th, 5th, and 6th 2025, at 5 pm for a dinner at Sultan Middle School with the Superintendent candidates each day, respectively. No business will be discussed during this gathering. They will go into Executive Session after the public forum at 7:15-8:45pm in the SMS library for a 1-hour interview with the finalist, then 30-minute discussion afterwards. Thursday, the 6th, after the executive session, around 8:30 pm, they will enter into a public session to vote on the final candidate. If you have any questions. Please call 360-793-9800. The Sultan School District Board of Directors will convene February 28th, 2025, at 5 pm via Zoom for a closed special meeting to discuss the new Superintendent contract and the schedule of interviews for Saturday, March 1st, where they will meet again to hold preliminary interviews for the Superintendent position in an executive session from 8:30 am -3:30 pm. They will remain in executive session to deliberate until 5 pm and possibly reach consensus on the finalists. It is anticipated that the 3 final candidates will be announced on Monday, March 3rd, 2025.

" MEETINGS: Meetings for 2024-2025 will be held in the board room at the Transportation Cooperative Administration Building from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. on March 31, 2025, April 28, 2025, and June 2, 2025...MEMBERSHIP: Membership in the SSAC is appointed and is comprised of the following: 1) Student representatives from each Sultan School District school, grades 6-12, 2) Four representatives from each grade 9-12, 3) Two representatives from each grade 6-8, 4) Student Representatives to the Board, and 5) The Superintendent.
