What is Transition to Kindergarten?

Transition to Kindergarten is a free, full day Kindergarten readiness program. Transition to Kindergarten extends an opportunity for children to build a solid foundation for school success through play-based learning. Transition to Kindergarten focuses on providing opportunities for students to grow in areas such as pre-reading, pre-writing, early numeracy, and social skills. 

What is the Transition to Kindergarten Screening?

A simple screening will occur in June of 2024 for each eligible child. This screening will be approximately 20 minutes, during this time the teacher will engage in activities with the child so that data may be collected to help determine if the program is the best option for the child. 

Someone will contact you in June and class starts in Sept 2024.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for this program, children must be 4 on or prior to August 31st, 2024, and will be entering Kindergarten in the Fall of 2025, they must demonstrate academic and/or social needs, and not been previously enrolled in an early learning program.

Once all screenings are complete classroom enrollment will be finalized and you will be contacted regarding if your child is in the program or on the waiting list.

The first day of Transition to Kindergarten will be in September 2024, and runs until the end of the school year.

To be eligible for screening, children must:

• Be 5 years old by August 31, 2025

• Live within the boundaries of sultan school district

• Not been previously enrolled in an early learning program

• Demonstrate academic and/or social-emotional needs
