Friday the Cross Country team competed at Nike Hole in the Wall Invitational. It was a beautiful day for racing. Abraham Alvarado and Bentley Villasenor had a great first race of the season. They both beat their personal goals. Lyla Nicewanner and Brittany Demarco had a great race finishing in the top for 6th grace girls. Jayden Dillahunt and Jenson Neilson made the podium for 6th grade boys. Jayden finished 13th and Jenson finished in 6th. Great job to all athletes! Come and cheer on the cross country team this Wednesday at Osprey Park for our home meet. Races start at 3:30pm.

On Saturday, the Cross Country team joined the High School Team and ran the John Payne invite. The team raced again other middle schools along with running clubs making that 193 kids in one single race. Weston Stenbak ran an incredible race finishing in 18th with a new PR. Jayden Dillahunt also had a strong race with a new PR for the season by two minutes. Lyla Nicewanner finished first for our girls with shedding three minutes off her previous time. Nellie Enquist also had a great finish with taking three minutes off her time. Great job to everyone who ran Saturday!

There will be an Evacuation Drill up Love's Hill starting at 9:30am on Wednesday, October 4th. This drill is for all students and staff of Sultan School District. Students please dress appropriately for the evacuation drill. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a sweatshirt or jacket. Should the drill be postponed due to inclement weather, the decision would be made by 8:30am on the day of the drill and posted on the district website (http://sultanschools.org) letting people know that it has been cancelled and may be rescheduled in the spring of 2023. Sultan High School has a new weekend schedule for the field: Closed Monday through Thursday after practices Closed Friday at dusk or after football games Open Saturday from 7:15 Sunday:15 pm Closed Sunday This change was decided at the September 25th, 2023 board meeting. Yesterday, the SMS cross country team had their first meet. We raced at Fort Casey which has mixed terrain making it a difficult course. In the men’s, we had Weston Stenbak, Jenson Neilson and Lucas Anderson lead the charge. In the women’s, we had Alexis Tubbs out in front leading the group. Clara King, Ava Porter and Lyla Nicewanner lead right behind. Athletes of the meet are Alexis Tubbs and Jenson Neilson. The cross country team overall had great performances. We will be racing this Saturday at Run of the Salmon. Come and cheer them on!

POLICY UPDATE: Policy and procedure 3245 Students and Telecommunication Devices were board-approved to have revisions reflecting an "off-and-away" approach to cell phones and any personal smart device. Only grades 9-12 will be allowed to take them out during their scheduled lunchtime.
