On Friday, May 17th, Sultan School District celebrated a Gold Bar Elementary School (GBE) staff and volunteer at the Region 109 Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) award ceremony! CONGRATULATIONS GBE's Counselor Dave Monson & Parent Volunteer Lance "Buddy" Hunt!!
🏆 District Student Achievement Leadership: Dave Monson serves as our school counselor at Gold Bar Elementary. He is instrumental in ensuring social-emotional learning opportunities in every classroom every day by supporting morning circles, Second Step lessons, and leading friendship groups. His focused efforts in supporting relationship-driven instruction in our schools are changing the culture wherein students are learning to embrace taking risks within the classroom as they know their classrooms are safe places to learn. In addition to his work in classrooms, he is a liaison for families and helps run various afterschool programs.
🏆 Community Leadership Award: Buddy Hunt is a proactive father of two of our students who volunteers regularly through the Watch Dog and PTO programs- supervising and supporting students in the classrooms, on the playground, during after-school programming, and while on field trips. He is also an active community member serving as the Administrator for the local Crime Watch group. Buddy is the type of parent and community member that you can count on not only seeing but most likely helping to organize or serve at nearly every local event and is a fixture in our building. His efforts have been instrumental in both generating and sustaining active community involvement with our school.
