Blood Donation

January is National Blood Donation Month!

Did you know that our state needs 1000 people per DAY to donate blood in order to supply just the top 100 local hospitals in the state? We cannot make synthetic blood for people in need of donation-- therefore it must be donated. Without donation people who need regular transfusions for on going cancer care, people who need massive amounts of blood after experiencing physical trauma—all of them, may not receive the blood they need when they need it—let alone those who might need blood after a disaster or local emergency. Giving blood is a quick virtually painless procedure that is truly giving the gift of life.

SHS HOSA and Bloodworks Northwest will be hosting a bloodmobile blood drive at SHS on Friday 1/12/24.
This drive is open to all students (16-17 with permission slip) all staff and all community members over 18 or 16-17 years old with parents permission.
